Homework Students will receive math and reading homework on Monday, and it will be due FRIDAY. Encourage students to return work the next day, but I do not check for it until Friday. Students make up missing homework during Friday morning recess. Students who turn in homework on time are eligible to win fabulous weekly prizes!!

Math All 3 rd grade students take common math assessments, based on the state GLCEs. Some concepts taught: Multiplication facts through 10 X 10 (challenge through 12 X 12) DivisionGraphing FractionsMoney – making change DecimalsGeometry Algebra

Rocket Math Rocket Math is a program to help students master basic math facts for all operations. These facts must become automatic so that students can do higher level problems. Unlike “Mad Minutes” Rocket Math takes into account students writing and processing speed. Each student begins at his/her individual level, and proceeds independently. As they finish a level students progress to the next level or next operation. Only two facts are introduced per day. See the parent letter for more details.

Math Series – 3 nd Year We use Macmillan McGraw-Hill “Math Connects”. Students have a textbook for the first time. You can access the website from home. Go to Choose Math Choose 3 rd Grade You will have access to games, extra practice, glossary of terms, personal tutors, quizzes and tests. To view the complete textbook, click on Studentworks Plus Online. You will need to enter the following code: B4FD4E3A7E

Reading/Language Arts Daily 5 – Read to Self, Read to Others, Work on Writing, Word Work, Listen to Reading Guided Reading Groups Comprehension Strategies RTI – to start after testing is finished Grammar – includes writing complete sentences and paragraphs.
