TYPES OF POETRY

 Tells a story  Is meant to be sung (usually)  Each stanza has four lines  Example: Gilligan’s Island Theme Song ?v=cfR7qxtgCgY BALLAD

 A long narrative poem telling of a hero’s deeds  The main character is larger than life and possess super human strength. EPIC

FREE VERSE  Poetry that doesn’t follow any set pattern.  The poet choses how many lines per stanza and how many stanzas.  The poet also chooses the beat and what forms of figurative language to use.
