2 (A) STRUCTURE & ELEMENTS
Elements of poetry are a tool that an author uses to help the reader see and experience what is happening in the poem in a creative way. Structure has to do with how a poem is written and what format it takes. Below is a list of types of poetry or ways to structure a poem Couplet Ballad Stanza Blank Verse Elegy Haiku Epic Narrative Ode Free Verse Sonnet Rhyme Scheme Meter Iambic Pentameter Rhyme Consonance Assonance Alliteration Onomatopoeia Personification

3 (B) TONE/STYLE/MOOD Style is a manner of presenting material, including usage, punctuation, point of view, organization, and tone. By manipulating these stylistic factors, different meanings are achieved. Point of View – First Person, Second Person, Third Person Formal vs. Informal Tone (Voice) is the writer's attitude toward his or her subject or characters. It is conveyed through the author's words and details. Mood is the feeling a reader gets while reading a literary work or passage.

4 (C) CONNECTIONS BETWEEN TEXTS
Compare and contrast is a concept that is used to examine information in order to show the similarities and differences between two or more thoughts or ideas. Consider comparing: Main ideas Purpose Conflicts/Problems Point of views Settings Themes Characters CUE WORDS/PHRASES Comparing: similar, in the same way, likewise, just like, as well as, in addition, etc. Contrasting: different than, in contrast, unlike, however, on the contrary, on the other hand, instead, although, etc.
