Aim #10: Why did the Protestant Reformation occur? Do Now: How would you describe the reputation of the Roman Catholic Church by the year 1500? Describe two events that we have learned about in the last two units to support your answer.

I. What is the Protestant Reformation? A. Protestant Reformation 1. Protest: People are going to rise up and protest Church corruption and practices 2. Reform: People are going to try to make changes to fix/improve Christianity in Europe 3. Will eventually lead to the creation of an entirely new branch of Christianity → Protestants
