BASIN A bowl-shaped area of land drained by a river

BAY A broad inlet of the sea where the land curves inward

BAYOU A marshy outlet of a lake or river.

CANAL An artificial waterway constructed to allow the passage of boats/ships inland or to water for irrigation

COVE A small sheltered bay

CREEK A minor tributary of a river

DELTA A triangle- shaped deposit of sand, clay or silt at the mouth of a river

FJORD A narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs

GEYSER A hot spring in which water intermittently boils, sending a tall column of water and steam into the air.

GLACIER A slowly moving mass of ice formed by the accumulation and compaction of snow
