2 MOUNTAINS Define: a high rounded or pointed landform with steep sides. It is higher than a hill.

3 VALLEYS Define: an area of low land between hills or mountains.

4 BASINS Define: an area that is lower than the land around it; a hole or hollow place in the earth’s surface that can hold water.

5 STREAMS Define: a small current of water flow.

6 SEAS Define: a large body of salt water; similar to an ocean.

7 BAYS Define: part of a body of water that goes into the land.

8 GULFS Define: a large body of water that goes into the land.

9 BOUNDARIES Define: the divide between different areas of land.

10 PENINSULAS Define: land that is nearly surrounded by water.

11 ISLANDS Define: a body of land entirely surrounded by water.

12 STRAITS Define: a narrow passage of water connecting two large bodies of water.

13 ISTHMUS Define: a narrow strip of land that connects two larger bodies of land and is surrounded by water on two sides.

14 CANYONS Define: a deep ravine or gorge that typically exists between two cliffs.

15 DELTAS Define: a triangle-shaped deposit of sand, clay or silt at the mouth of a river.

16 PLATEAUS Define: an area of raised, flat land usually cut by canyons.

17 MESAS Define: a flat piece of land with steep sides that is smaller than a plateau.

18 BUTTES Define: an isolated hill or mountain rising abruptly above the surrounding land.

19 DESERTS Define: a very dry place where few plants grow.

20 PLAINS Define: an area of flat or almost flat land.

21 CANALS Define: a long narrow place that is filled with water and was created by people so that boats could pass through it or to supply fields or crops with water.
