History of Netball The history of netball can be traced to the early development of basketball. The year after basketball was invented in 1891, the sport was later modified for women. The first codified rules of netball were published at the start of the twentieth century. (Where it started? Netball started in England.)

Rules of Netball 2 teams of 7 players Aim of the game is to throw and catch the ball and get it down to your end of the court. In which either the GA or GS are able to shoot the ball into the ring. Each player as a defending player. Each player must stand at least 3 feet away from there attacking player.

Positions of Netball Goal Attack (GA) Goal Shooter (GS) The main task of the Goal Shooter is to score goals. They are allowed within the goal third only. Goal Keeper (GK) The main task of the Goal Keeper is to defend the GS from getting a goal. Goal Attack (GA) The Goal Attack shares the goal shooting responsibilities with the Goal Shooter, and is allowed to move within the goal third and centre third. Goal Defence (GD) The main task of the Goal Defence is to defend the attacking moves of their opponent the goal attack from getting a goal or from passing it onto the GS. Wing Attack (WA) The main task of the Wing Attack is to deliver the ball to the Goal Shooter/Attack using a variety of attacking moves. They are allowed to move in the attacking goal third and the centre third, but not in the goal circle. Wing Defence (WD) The main task of the Wing Defence is to defend the attacking moves of their opponent, the Wing Attack. They are aloud in the centre third and in the defending third. Centre (C) The centre is the link player from the defence third to the goal third and plays an important role in both attack and defence. They are allowed to move over the whole court, except the goal circles.
