World natural disasters

The 2004 boxing day Sumatra tsunami. The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was an undersea mega thrust earthquake that occurred at 00:58:53 UTC on Sunday, 26 December 2004, with an epicentre off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The quake itself is known by the scientific community as the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake. The resulting tsunami is given various names, including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, South Asian tsunami, Indonesian tsunami, and the Boxing Day tsunami.

Natural disasters of 2011: From the earthquake & tsunami in Japan to the largest recorded tornado outbreak in history.

An earthquake of 6.3 magnitude hit Christchurch, New Zealand, the country’s second biggest city, on 22 February It ranks as New Zealand’s second- worst natural disaster of all time, with over 150 recorded fatalities (this figure is still very low compared with the earthquake death toll often recorded in poor nations).

Black saturday The Black Saturday bushfires were a series of bushfires that ignited or were burning across the Australian state of Victoria on and around Saturday, 7 February The fires occurred during extreme bushfire-weather conditions and resulted in Australia's highest ever loss of life from a bushfire

On May 27, 1997, multiple tornadoes swept through Williamson and Travis counties in central Texas. The tornadoes caused 32 injuries, 29 deaths, and an estimated $20 million in personal and commercial insured losses.
