LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run1  Repair of ‘guillotine valves’  Repair converter (just after T4 TAX – quite radioactive !)  Invert order of FISCs (AB internal)  Vacuum in KABES region  Reading of vacuum pumps  Magnetic field settings and readings  Complete software for K12-specific items: P0-survey, K12SURV XCLD  Support for lead shield in between hodoscopes oRemove HAC and Muon veto oInstallation of a MBPL in HAC region oPrepare for installation of a CEDAR in SCR region WORK organised / done by or with ATB/EA DROPPED

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run2 Preliminary Beam commissioning run: May No access to ECN3 !! Start of proton beam in ECN3: 19 June End of proton beam: 26 October -200 GeV/c pion beam *): 31 October till 11 November *) -180 GeV/c option under study

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run3 “Version 1.0-  ”

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run4 Repair of guillotine valves :  Need to make space by moving HAC  Partial dismounting of ventilation system  Work in Nitrogen atmosphere.  Planned for week 14 (April 2 nd ) Possibly earlier, but no commitment

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run5 Repair converter  Must be IN beam for electron beams  Must be OUT for all other beams  For the moment stuck IN beam Problem:just behind TAX – very radioactive (7 mSv/hr!) Wait as long as possible for cooldown Will be repaired of replaced Invert order of FISCs Ongoing now

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run6 Vacuum in KABES-2 region  KABES-2 will be removed (KABES-1 is out anyway). Continuous vacuum through KABES  For RICH test (October) : remove vacuum downstream of scrapers May have to remove part of neutron shielding wall Depending on length of RICH prototype

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run7 Reading of vacuum pumps  Cabling problem (?) for some pumps Should not be a show-stopper  One pressure reading is available at position 86, upstream of the blue tube but in direct vacuum ‘contact’ If no KABES installed, two more pumps are directly connected to the blue tube  I.Efthymiopoulos investigating what can be done. Conflicting with LHC priorities in other groups

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run8 Magnetic field settings and readings For a limited period during the 2006 run, not entirely by chance overlapping with the K12 run, magnet settings and readings were not reliable. The diagnosis was hampered by the presence of three simultaneous problems: 1)An increasing number of H/W faults on address cards A systematic campaign of tests and repairs has been done Some 14% were found faulty. Consequently often several rectifiers replied to the same command….. 3)The addressing sequence was too fast, the reading was done before the voltage had stabilised Drivers added to stabilise voltage 2)Too many address cards on the same ‘databus’ interface card Voltage drop lead to additional instabilities Showed up when P42+K12 was activated These problems have now been identified and repaired, should be ok, to be definitively validated for MNP33 before start-up (as early as possible).

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run9 Software items  P0-SURVEY Essential for operation Survey functionality exists, but configuration remains to be completed Will be integrated in Software Interlock System – before DSO tests  K12SURV For access to technical gallery Will close TAX if TAX range changed during access  XCLD control Anyway possible to control via FESA low-level software GUI to be written – possibly at the last moment

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run10 Support for lead shield in between hodoscopes Conceptual design proposed by S.Girod Bolted onto yellow hodoscope frames (M8 screws) Total weight : approx. 250 kg for Lead + 50 kg for support

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run11 Preferred First proposals (last week):

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run12 Stability against buckling still to be verified

LG, 15 March 2007 ATB work for 2007 run13  Can be done by AB-ATB-EA  P326 funding required (material cost + FSU time) Two possibilities for filling with lead: 1.Lead bricks 50 bricks have been delivered to ECN3, out of which 25 are new Size 20 x 10 x 5 cm. Disadvantages: cracks in between, height marginal (3 hodoscope strips = 19.5 cm) 2.Lead sheets, e.g. 5 mm thick Must be purchased Could be 5 mm thick, 21 cm high, e.g. 50 cm wide. Total width 250 cm. Offset layers by 10 mm, so that cracks are not aligned
