Nouns

A noun is a word that names a person, place, or thing.

A Common Noun: names any person, place, or thing. Examples: sister, library, house

A Proper Noun names a specific person, place, or thing. Mrs. Hollowell Pizza Inn Jolly Ranchers

Proper Nouns:  Always begin with capital letters  If it has more than one word, each important word begins with a capital letter

Common and Proper Nouns Common nouns can name people: girl, man, doctor Proper nouns can name people: Lisa, Mr. Carter, Dr. Smith
