2. Common and Proper Nouns
A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.
A common noun names any person, place, thing or idea. Common nouns are not capitalized, unless they come at the beginning of a sentence.
Examples:
teacher baseball city

5. Proper Nouns
A proper noun names a particular person, place, thing, or idea. Proper nouns are always capitalized.
Examples:
