The Media Specialist is a LEADER  Seen by the school community as a knowledgeable leader both in and out of the media center.  Serves on the school’s leadership team.  Initiates programs and collaboration with administration, teachers, parents, students, and community.

The Media Specialist is a LEADER The in-services I developed show my leadership abilities because they serve as a guide to my colleagues on effective communication and tools. The Tech Tip educates teachers on a Web 2.0 tool for more meaningful teaching and learning. The blog uses technology as a tool to communicate about education with others.

The Media Specialist is a TEACHER  Introduces students to skills necessary to be a successful 21 st century learner.  Develops and builds a love of reading in students.  Models and teaches research skills.

The Media Specialist is a TEACHER {Click images to see full documents} The book talk demonstrates my ability as a teacher because it introduces students to books they might not otherwise read. The Media Center Orientation demonstrates my ability as a teacher because it gives the students familiarity with the media center that is necessary for it to be a tool throughout the year. The Dewey Decimal Power Point is a teaching tool used in educating 21 st Century learners.

The Media Specialist is an PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR  Manages, updates, and organizes the collection and resources.  Develops a meaningful media program that best reaches all students.  Puts policies and procedures in place that ensures an effective program.

The Media Specialist is an PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR {Click images to see full documents} The Reference Log shows my ability as a program administrator because it is a useful tool for building a quality reference collection. The Reconsideration of Materials Power Point assists media specialists in effectively managing their collection.

The Policies & Procedures Handbook I developed lends itself to an effective program by defining the rules and actions that will be utilized in my media center.
