Welcome back Class 2! I hope you all enjoyed your half term and are ready for the run up to Christmas! The Classroom Over half term I have set up a snow cave in our role play area. There are activity trays that have fake snow, ice and water for children to use in their own way. Special Days/Trips There is no trip out of school this term as we have a lot of work to do getting ready for the KS1 production. Homework – This term we will be focusing on spelling rules and making sure simple words are spelt correctly in class. Please use the 100 HFW list sent home with half term homework to practise with your child. We will note down certain words to practise (in mini yellow books) if we notice errors in class. Children can have as many reading books per week as you would like, please feel free to change your books before or after school. Children will have a colour sticker on the front of their reading record book so you know which books are the right level for your child. Remember to record when you have read at home as I award a merit for each time. Children will be given a mental maths target to practise, this will be noted in their yellow communication book. The children earn a bronze, silver and gold star then are given a new target to work on. These are also kept on the front of their maths books. The targets may be writing certain numbers correctly, learning number bonds or times tables off by heart. Occasionally there might be an online activity or game pack sent home (there will be a note sent home in this case). Remember to check for games and activities on the active learn site, try to collect as many coins as you can to spend! Other information Please ensure your child’s belongings are clearly named, including PE kit (clothes/daps) and water bottles. Anything unnamed and unclaimed by a child will be placed in lost property (in disabled toilets). If you have any winter themed toys/figures we could use this term please bring them and make sure your child’s name is on them. If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me at school or via Many thanks Miss Rock
