IES Membership Benefits and Information

Mission: The IES seeks to improve the lighted environment by bringing together those with lighting knowledge and by translating that knowledge into actions that benefit the public. Illuminating Engineering Society

JOIN IES: Individuals with Common Interests This organization is made up of individuals with a scholarly interest in the application of the science and art of lighting. The IES is a technical Society and brings individuals together who share similar interests.

JOIN IES: Make Connections Members of the IES are consultants, contractors, researchers, designers, educators, engineers, manufacturers and consumers who are involved in lighting by profession.

JOIN IES: Make Connections With over 8,000 individual members world wide, IES connects leaders in lighting. These are relationships that enhance the lives of members both personally and professionally.

Membership Active IES members are ‘in the know’ about the most up to date lighting research and recommended practices, making them stronger in their trade and more valuable to employers and clients. HOW?

Join IES: Be In the Know Membership includes educational opportunities, as well as networking opportunities Local Sections host educational meetings and seminars, which allow members to hone their skills and network at the same time. IES Regional Conferences are coordinated by Midwest, Northeast, South and/or West Regions providing additional opportunities for coursework and personal interaction with professionals from a wide range of international lighting disciplines. IES Annual Conference connect members on a global level. Usually held every November. IES Online digital courses make education possible at any time of day. Mentorship Program connects emerging professionals with established professionals.

Members develop additional leadership skills by participating on a committee or serving on the Board of Managers. These collaborative leadership environments provide for thoughtful leadership development outside of the workplace. Membership
