CLIENT PROPOSAL – prepared by the “In the News” production company  ‘In the News’ is an opportunity to get involved in the world of media and television. ‘In the News’ experts preview news broadcasts created by young people and arrange for the best to be shown on community television channels.  You must produce a news broadcast for the ‘In the News’ experts to preview. This will be a multimedia broadcast that features a headline story about youth achievement.  You will choose the target audience and a title for your broadcast. Within this broadcast there needs to be a range of media content to make it look and feel more professional. You will be required to produce a videoed weather forecast that will be shown during the news broadcast.  A range of youth achievements in the area will need to be highlighted, these could include community support, sport, local educational achievements or anything that requires merit. To achieve a pass grade: Candidates will produce a basic Conclusion Clip and broadcast ready version that includes an animated outro and then produce an ePortfolio of the video sequences, To achieve a merit grade: Candidates will produce a consistent Conclusion Clip and broadcast ready version that includes an animated outro in keeping with the theme and then produce an ePortfolio of the video sequences and other elements of your designs. To achieve a distinction grade: Candidates will produce a consistent themed Conclusion Clip and broadcast ready version of their News Programme that includes an animated outro and then produce an ePortfolio of the video sequences and all elements of your designs. 1

Quality of saved video footage (M/D) Consideration of file size and video proportions (M/D) Consideration of compatibility (D) LO5: Be able to prepare an outro sequence and present the ePortfolio ‘In the News’ looking to preview portfolios of production evidence to decide which proposal to work with. ‘In the News’ would like you to create an animated outro sequence that concludes the production and should be at least ten seconds long to give the audience time to adapt to the ending. The animation needs to be similar in theme and style to the opening sequence. 1 Task 1 (P/M/D) - Create an outro animation with sound that presents the ending of the news item to a target audience. This animated clip needs to be well designed, include the company logo and should be structured like the clips between items of news on normal news programmes. 2 Task 2 (P/M/D) – Evidence saving the outro sequence in an appropriate file format. For Merit and Distinction, grades are judged on the quality of the finished animated sequences.

Task 3 (P, M, D) The welcome video, headline story and the weather forecast need to be previewed by different ‘In the News’ experts. You must produce a version of the broadcast that allows them to navigate to each of these components. Design a structure and the assets for this preview version of the broadcast. The best way of presenting this information is on a webpage. To do so you will need to make preview links for the main objects for the production company to access. 3 Task 3 (P) – Create and evidence three preview versions of your Welcome Video, Headline Story and the Weather Forecast. You can do this by taking snapshots of your three elements from within the packages they were created in and saving these elements within your folders.

As all the files are saved in a file format that should now be compatible with other programs, you will need to create a single version of your video for presentation within a video editing package like Movie Maker. The sequence needs to be: 1.opening sequence 2.a welcome video clip 3.a headline story 4.a continuity sequence 5.a weather forecast 6.closing sequence 4 Task 4 (P/M/D) – Record and Edit the Final Version sequence for your client including all the elements produced. 5 Task 5 (P/M/D) – Evidence saving the Final Version in an appropriate file format.

This should be two additional pages: Products Page - this should contain the 3 preview links to sections of your portfolio and a full version link to your finished video production. Evidence folder – This should include links to all the evidence documents, commentaries and Buddy reports created throughout this project. Comments should be made beside each link to explain to the company what they are clicking on and seeing. 7Task 7 (P/M/D) –Produce two pages for the presentation of information with suitable content links. The Pages need to be well designed and clearly labelled, include the company logo and incorporate the symbols and voice overs. Merit and Distinction grades are judged on the quality and functions of the Pages. Any additional Images used must be in your Assets Table. Get your Test Buddy to look over it to check for mistakes.
