Insanis

Synopsis Sam has just started her new job as janitor for the local psychiatric hospital. She lives alone and spends her spare time collecting old and rare coins. One day one of her coins goes missing and she sees a mysterious figure outside her window, causing her further suspicions. Paranoia sets in and she begins to feel as if he is being watched wherever she goes – Is she crazy? Or is there really someone there?

Three act treatment Equilibrium- Every evening Sam travels half an hour to her new job working at the psychiatric institution. She enjoys collecting coins and she lives alone in the bottom of a high rise block of flats. She is content in the rat race. Disruption- One of her prized possessions goes missing and then he sees a running figure outside her window. This causes her to become paranoid and she feels unsafe. The next day at work one of the patients approaches her and gives her a coin very similar to her missing one only covered in blood. She walks into her house and her rooms empty apart from the coin collection on the floor spelling out ‘Insanis’. She looks back and his flat is furnished again. She starts to think she’s crazy and takes some of the patients medicine. New Equilibrium (Resolution)- She ends up being a patient in the psychiatric institution where she now spends the rest of her days with her new collection of pebbles.

Mise en scene Props: Coins, Fake Blood, Broom, Images Costume: Hospital gown(big top), Casual clothing, working uniform Location: Mental institution, Flats Lighting: Low Key/High Contrast Acting: Shifty, Independent, Mysterious, Paranoid, Confused

Influences FILMS: Fight Club Memento Se7en Inception Vertigo One Hour Photo All of these films have had an inspiration due to the plot that has left people uneasy and confused while watching. CHARACTERS: Silence of the Lambs(Hannibal Lector) Girl Interrupted(Lisa) Shutter Island(Leonardo DiCaprio) Copycat The Devil Inside(Maria Rossi) Misery All the characters haven’t got an overly strong mental capacity and we want the main character to have the same experience, without making it too obvious.

Marketing Ways we would advertise our film:- Magazine Bus stop adverts Social networking(Facebook page, Twitter etc.) Trailers Billboards Posters It will be aimed mainly towards 18 to 25 year olds because it has disturbing psychological content

Unique selling point There are two sides to every coin Our unique selling point is that by the time the film is over the audience will be unsure about whether the things they have seen were merely imaginings from the protagonist’s deluded mind or whether it was all, in fact real. It makes them raise questions about what is going on within the film and the title sequence. It draws them in and makes them want to view what the whole film is about.
