2 psychological thriller
Working Title Monotony Reigns Genre; psychological thriller

3 Synopsis Stuck in the cage of a conformist society where crime over-shadows moral authority Vincent, a lonely office monkey, feels the need to erase petty criminals in increasingly chilling ways in order to escape his mundane, average lifestyle. In a desperate attempt to break free from the shackles of his normal life he finds himself forgetting who he really is. His mind and body walk separate paths when he has to battle his needs against his conscience and remove someone he is previously aquatinted with. Can someone truly possess the power to judge what is right and wrong?

4 ‘Mind, Body. 2 paths. 2 choices.’
USP ‘Mind, Body. 2 paths. 2 choices.’ We wanted our Unique Selling point to be short and sweet and we only wanted it to consist of Nouns and Numbers. Our production is based around a Psychological thriller theme and so we wanted to keep the audience guessing with our tagline in line with the theme. We wanted it to be also related to the character and story line that we created and the battle between mind and body that the main character has made the first two words of our tagline appropriate. This then relates to our repetition of the number two which relates to the repetition of the characters original lifestyle and emphasising on the fact that the character will have many dilemmas but also solutions.

5 3 Act Treatment 3 Act Treatment:
Beginning – We are introduced to the anti-hero protagonist and his repetitive lifestyle. We gradually see him becoming frustrated with his job and every-day life. A change begins to arise in his character that sets up the atmosphere for the middle and end of the film. Middle – The characters changes lead him to escape boredom and routine and commit his first murder of a petty criminal, this motivates his addiction to the adrenaline from killing and he commits further acts similar to the first. The protagonist finds interest in a woman who conceals a secret from him. He unveils her secret and faces the dilemma of weather to set her free from an oppressive force or let her continue living a lie, but discovers that she is content with her private affairs. End- He struggles to decide how to follow up her confession and whether to help her even though she is adamant she doesn’t need assistance. However our anti-hero decides to take action against this woman’s mystery employer with fatal consequences.

6 Influences Our location for our opening sequence is highly influenced by the film Brighton rock, we plan to shoot this sequence in the dark, dingy back streets of Brighton to add to the eerie effect. Our preferable weather conditions would be rainy; this is because we can get some interesting shots of raindrops to add a sense of the landscape. The narrative is inspired by Fight Club being of a similar genre (psychological thriller.) The idea of our character needing an escape from the normal is highly influenced by the transformation between personalities during fight club. Our characterisation is based around the opening sequence of seven, we aim to characterise without giving to much away. We need to establish our protagonist as an anti-hero in much the same way as the antagonist is presented in seven.

7 Marketing Our target audience is mainly adults who are interested in crime and psychological thrillers, we plan to market our production by putting a first exclusive 1 minute trailer during the x-factor final, which has an average viewership of 15 million and we think this would be a perfect opportunity for people to have a first glimpse at our feature. We would also have posters put up around the country, main examples include Brighton, London, and Manchester in the main city centers so that people see them on the way to work and when they go shopping etc. We would also create a website which would aim to promote the film and also sell memorabilia like t-shirts, bags, badges and accessories etc.
