From Planning to Doing: SBE Global Educator Digital Badge Working toward this designation provides educators the opportunity to set goals and focus professional development on global education. Teachers show they are global educators by providing instructional opportunities for students to understand, analyze and discuss issues of global importance. The badge for teachers has been available since January 2015.

From Planning to Doing: SBE Global Educator Digital Badge SBE October Board Meeting: Expansion of Educator categories for the GEDB: –Teacher Leadership Specialist –Library Media Coordinator –Instructional Technology Facilitator –School Counselor –School Social Worker –School Psychologist –Speech Language Pathologist –Instructional Central Office Staff –Principal/Assistant Principal –Superintendent

From Planning to Doing: SBE Global-Ready Schools As part of its goal to track the number of global- education ready schools in North Carolina, the State Board of Education has established a set of components essential to 21st century skills and fostering global awareness in students. Global- Ready Schools Designation applications are available annually and due April 1 each year. Schools are notified in May of status and potential designees receive a school site visit from a state- level team. Schools that achieve the designation are recognized at the November State Board of Education meeting.

Applications are available annually and are due December 1 each year. Districts are notified in January of status. Successful designees will be recognized at the February State Board of Education meeting.
