Evaluation of the community Event Rimini - 26 October 2006 La Fête du Carré 2006

Created in 1973 : inhabitants Sénart is the youngest New Towns out of five in Ile-de-France Region Sénart, 30 kms South-East far from Paris Sénart Today inhabitants Sénart Tomorrow inhabitants Sénart

The main Goal : to create Sénart Identity amongst community event The festival enhance the Carré Senart development : its layout, its constructions, its sites… Since 2000, every 2 years, a regular rendez-vous for Senart inhabitants A town center in construction

The primary objectives of this event are  To reinforce the sentiment of belonging to a town and to a community.  To participate in the drafting of the future town center : “the Carré Sénart”.  To invite the population to a festive community event. An organisation that uses the territories ressources: population participation, association networks, companies, volonteers, youth...

This festival is now the main event in the south of Paris and particularly for the New Town of Sénart, Remember, people 14th July 2004, people 14th July 2006 Population participation increased !

The « Fête du Carré » 2006 : building an artistic outlook Some figures on the festival 42 music bands and companies 14 amateur bands « talents of sénart » 600 actors (145 volunteers) 24 associations 18 companies

Questionnaires : a way to evoluate  2 kind of questionnaires - public questionnaire - questionnaire for volunteers  2 main reasons - improve the festival organization - empower the community to draft events

First steps : Questionnaire to improve the knowledge of the public

Results at a local level Actions  2004 a satisfactory questionnaire for inhabitants about the community event  2006 a new questionnaire for inhabitants  2006 a questionnaire for volonteers ( inhabitants and civil servants ) Results  Increase the knowledge on social indicators, implementation, evaluation and drafting.

Results at a local level - The empowerment of participants through the transnational approach - The exchange of informations of good practices and knowledge do enable the construction of a commun culture - Cross fertilisation, best understanding of european projects, different logic of thinking, transnational methodology drafting
