The Periodic Table of Elements

Where do the elements in our Universe come from?

Our Sun, a medium sized star, in the middle of its lifetime. Inside the temperature is so hot that Hydrogen is fused into Helium. Some of the Helium is fused into the next couple of atoms in the periodic table, like Beryllium. Our Sun, a medium sized star, in the middle of its lifetime. Inside the temperature is so hot that Hydrogen is fused into Helium. Some of the Helium is fused into the next couple of atoms in the periodic table, like Beryllium. But where do the other 100 odd elements come from? And how did they come to Earth?

When all Hydrogen is “burned up”, the star is fusing bigger and bigger atoms together (up to the element Iron). The star becomes a red giant. Eventually it will explode, creating a supernova. The energy released in a supernova is so great the elements after Iron are created. The remnants of a supernova forms a new solar system with a sun and planets.

We are all made from stardust… even the Easter Bunny!
