What is this class about? WORD PROCESSING I is a one-semester course designed to provide students with entry-level skills in word processing concepts, operations, text manipulations, and production of business documents 4

You will need the following supplies for this class: 3 Ring binder Loose-leaf paper Pen/pencil 5

1 st 9 weeks Unit 1—Getting Started Unit 2—Text Manipulations Unit 3—Retrieving, Editing, and Editing a Document Unit 4—Printing and Basic File Management Unit 5—Text Entry Features Unit 6—Special Editing Features 2 nd 9 weeks Unit 7—Document Formatting Unit 8—Business Applications 6

YOUR GRADE Will be calculated using the following components: 1.Class conduct/participation 2.Activities 3.Unit tests (8) 4.Semester Test

Class Rules DO NOT’s: Change the computer control settings. Delete desktop icons or shortcuts. Delete programs, files, or folders. Access the internet without express permission from the teacher. 8

Class Rules DO NOT’s: Access any website without approval from the teacher. Start up or shut down the computer without approval from the teacher. Damage any part of a computer or device. 9

Class Rules DO NOT’s: Print without permission from the teacher. Download anything without permission from the teacher. Do not access any program not approved by the teacher. No food or drinks in the computer lab. 10

Class Rules DO: Come to class with a positive attitude Be on time. Respect yourself and others. Ask permission to leave the room or your seat. Write the bellringer in your binders 11

Class Rules DO: Turn your work in on time. Ask questions by raising your hand. Follow instructions. Talk with me if you have any concerns about this class or your school environment. 12

21 Computer technology guidelines: Considered to be inappropriate use of computers and the Internet: Using inappropriate language on the system or using the system to engage in any illegal act. Posting information that could cause damage or a danger of disruption. Engaging in personal attacks, including prejudicial or discriminatory attacks; posting false or defamatory information about a person or organization; or harassing another person. (If you are told by a person to stop sending them messages or documents, you must stop.) Accessing material that is profane or obscene, that advocates illegal acts, or that advocates violence or discrimination toward other people.

22 Computer technology guidelines: Considered to be inappropriate use of computers and the Internet: Reposting a message that was sent to you privately without permission of the person who sent you the message. Posting private information about another person. Posting chain letters or engaging in "spamming". (Spamming is sending an annoying or unnecessary message to a large number of people.) Plagiarizing works that you find on the Internet. Reproducing a work that is protected by a copyright. Making copies of a licensed computer program to avoid paying additional license fees or to share with other users. Altering any system or network software or data component without specific approval and instructions from the Instructional Technology Department. Sending under someone else’s I.D. in an attempt to conceal the true identity of the sender.
