1 Welcome to Technology Class

2 Housekeeping Always bring your assignment notebook and something to write with to class. You will be asked to bring your headphones later in the semester. Restroom Breaks Are permitted but should not be a regular occurance

3 Behavior Expectations
Give respect, get respect The computer is not yours so you may not make any changes to the computer, i.e. screensaver, wallpaper, icon placement, etc. Talk ONLY when given permission Turn in assignments on time, late assignments will be accepted through the following Monday after the due date, but will only receive 80% of earned grade. Give your best effort! You will use what you learn in this class forever!!

Grade counts for Honors qualification Check your grades online

5 Grading You will be graded as follows: *Projects = 40%
*Keyboarding = 30% *Classwork = 25% *Quizzes = 5%

6 Project Based Learning
In this class, I use project based learning. This means you learn by doing projects, not by me lecturing to you and you showing me what you know by taking a test. However, this means that YOU must manage your work and complete it by the due date or you will not do well. Often you will have 2 weeks to complete a project and you will not be able to wait till the day before to complete it.

8 What is the Acceptable Use Policy?
A contract you and your parents sign at the beginning of the year with rules for using Technology at OLV Technology in school or provided by school is for educational use ONLY

9 Password Protection NEVER share your password!
If you suspect someone has your password, see Mrs. McGinnis to change it You are responsible for your login account, AR account and your Google Docs account NEVER allow anyone to use your accounts NEVER use anyone elses account

10 Appropriate Behavior Would your mother like to hear you say that?????

11 You are responsible for the language you use online, at ALL times
Do not use profanity or abusive language This applies to , chat, Google Docs or any other communication Treat ALL people with respect Never use hate speech Never send harassing mail or communication Never use technology to threaten Never make discriminatory or hurtful remarks-DON'T BE A CYBER BULLY!!!

12 You are responsible for how you use technology at OLV
Never search, share or display hate based or inappropriate material Never search share or display weapons or other violent material This behavior may be considered cyber crimes by police

13 You are responsible for your online conduct inside and outside of school
Your personal responsibility does not end when you leave the classroom Never say anything on social websites that would negatively impact you or your school community Protect your reputation!!

14 Spoofing Pretending to be someone else while using technology
Always be honest and truthful when you are online Never pretend to be someone else when online Never post or send messages while pretending to be someone else

15 Help Protect the OLV Network
Never change settings, screen savers, etc on any school computer Never download any files, games, music or videos to any school computer without your teachers permission

16 Vandalism You are responsible for protecting school property
Never purposely damage school equipment Report any damage you see to any computer or peripherals(printers, mouse pads, mouse, etc) to Mrs. McGinnis right away Report any student you see damaging equipment immediately to your teacher!

17 Intellectual Property
You are responsible for protecting other people's property online Always obey copyright laws Do not download music, videos, pictures or any other intellectual property without citing the source NEVER PLAGIARIZE!! ALWAYS cite your source!!

18 Online Publishing You are responsible for what you publish online
Never post personal information Never post personal information about other students Use caution: tags and screen names can provide too much personal information
