What does eating healthy mean? Healthy eating means eating a variety of foods that give you the nutrients you need to maintain your health.

WHY IS EATING HEALTHY IMPORTANT? You will have more energy. Helps you grow. Bones get stronger. Don’t get sick as often. Healthy eating can be used your whole life.

THE 5 FOOD GROUPS Grains Vegetables Fruit Milk Meat an Beans

GRAINS GROUP This group gives you carbohydrates which the body uses for energy. You should eat at least six servings from this group each day.

GRAINS Bread Cereal Pasta Rice Crackers Bagels

VEGETABLE GROUP Give us Vitamin A which helps keep our skin healthy. Vitamin C can also be found in vegetables which helps prevent diseases.

VEGETABLES Broccoli Celery Carrots Onions Green Beans Lettuce

FRUIT GROUP Mostly provides vitamin C to help the body heal, and fight infections too.

MILK GROUP Milk has calcium in it that helps keep bones and teeth strong.

MEAT GROUP Meats help you build muscles. Iron and protein are the nutrients that help you do this. Also provides energy for the body.
