APA REFERENCE FORMAT MRS. BUJOLD HSB4M

APA  APA stands for  American Psychological Association

APA References Page Requirements  Your documentation page should be titled References.  The word ‘References’ should be centred on the page  In the header on the far right side identify the title of the assignment and include pagination.

APA References Page Requirements  Alphabetize your list by the author’s last name or if there is no author, by the first word in the reference sentence.  Use hanging indentation. Only the first line of the reference starts at the margin, all other lines of the reference sentence is indented 5 spaces.  Double Space the whole reference list.  Use a separate page/slide for references.

APA Sample

APA Citations  You should use citations if you are stating facts or statistics for example:  The population of Hamilton is 530,000 (Smith, 2005, p. 35).  The rainforests are disappearing more quickly every year (Brown, 1999, p.148).

APA Citations  You should use citations if you are providing someone else’s opinion, for example:  “Chimpanzees are smarter than gorillas” (Davis, 2001, p. 258).  Freud is considered the father of psychology (Mitchell, 2000, p. 16).
