 AllMeds = Template Driven System  Utilized their own server, was HIPPA Compliant (used local IT Co)  An extensive and phased training approach took place one month prior to implementation (parts of staff, followed by full staff meetings)  Charts › Multiple people in one chart at the same time – Aids in personnel workflow  Practice DID NOT ratchet down visit schedule

 Training - Backfill & Shift Coverage should be considered  Limit amount of patients by one half during EHR Implementation for up to three weeks – (The practice later regretted not doing this)

 Utilize an IT company that knows what they are doing – this practice utilized their own server (saves $$)  Choose and EHR that encompasses billing  Visit sites already using the product you are interested in or have already purchase (no brainer) › Ask these practices for advice or their lessons learned  Fully utilize your EHR › Will save more money  SMOS saved over $100,000 in transcription and personnel per year.  EHR paid for itself in 30 months, the practice broke even at 20 months!

 1. Improving quality, safety, efficiency and reducing health disparities › Fully utilized their EHR (Billing, workflow, etc)  2. Engage patients and families in their healthcare › Did not utilize a portal or messaging – did not meet per textbook  3. Improve care coordination › Efficiency all around, RX and workflow especially  4. Improving population and public health › Reduction of errors per template system  5. Ensure adequate privacy and security protections for personal health information › IT company ensured server was HIPPA compliant › AllMeds company aided in setting system up
