College Courses Where can I find information ? WEB SITES and Careers Room for Prospectuses Open Days  Thursday 15 th October 5pm – 7.00pm – Trowbridge  Wednesday 7 th October 5pm – 7.00pm – Chippenham  Thursday 8 th October 5pm – 7.00pm Salisbury  Saturday 10 th October 10am – 12pm – Lackham  Trowbridge may also have an additional day in November  BATH COLLEGE – City Centre 12 th November 4pm -7pm If you miss the Open Day, you can contact the College and ask to meet someone who can give you information

How do I decide on which course ? Know YOUR LEVELS – what GCSE and Btec grades are you likely to get ? EVERY GRADE COUNTS Once you have applied to College, you will be interviewed – a chance to ask questions eg; what happens if I do not get a C in English or Maths ? Remember – Btec qualifications should lead to employment. Are there jobs available in that sector ?

Levels of Qualifications Btec Awards If you have ……Level Reached You can study …… At least 4 GCSE grades at C and above, including English and Maths + Level 2 Btec awards Level 2Level 3 Btec Awards at either College or in the Sixth Form NB : If you do not get a grade C in English or Maths, you will need to continue to study these 4 GCSE grades at D + level 1 Btec awards Level 1Level 2 Btec Awards Functional Skills to acquire level 2 in English and Maths GCSE grades at E-G + Btec Entry level awards Entry levelLevel 1 Btec Awards Skills Pathway Foundation Learning Functional Skills

Research Career Pathways Did you know that to become a Primary school teacher :  You could take a teaching degree following A levels and level 3 Btec courses  You could apply for a TA apprenticeship and then follow a Foundation degree and a further teaching degree.  But to teach in a Primary school, you must have a grade B in Maths and English

Apprenticeships You will need to find an employer; there are some vacancies on the Wiltshire College website or go to Monthly database on school website Students Futures Apprenticeships Apprenticeships have 3 levels : Intermediate, Advanced and Higher. Advanced or level 3 apprenticeships require you to have Level 2 qualifications – grade C or above at GCSE or a merit in Btecs + grade C in English and Maths You will need to take a functional skills test for many Intermediate apprenticeships. Some will require a C in Maths and English Polly Wiggins will support you through the process. TRAINEESHIPS are unpaid. Both work experience and training, for approx 6 months.
