CV256 Soil Mechanics (1) Course Lecturer: Prof.Dr. Hassan Abd Ellatif Course Assistant: Eng: Shimaa Course Objectives: The objective of this course is to enable students to: Understand Weight-volume relationships and physical properties of soil. Test the soil properties and know Soil classification. Show how to make soil Compaction and understand soil improvement. Show how to calculate and design different types of foundations Show how to calculate lateral earth pressure and slope stability. Weight-volume relationships. Physical properties of soil. Soil classification. Compaction and the replacement of soils.Shear strength. Types of foundations. Shallow foundations. Deep foundations. Introduction to lateral earth pressure and slope stability.
