Presentation transcript:

 Each tab is geared towards a certain activity area

 How many tabs is Word ribbon divided into?

77

 What are they?

 Home  Insert  Page Layout  References  Mailings  Review  View

 When you click on tab name in Word 2007, you won’t see the drop-down menus familiar from earlier versions of Word. Instead, the Word Ribbon opens, which replaces the toolbars from earlier versions of Word

 The Word 2007 Ribbon is divided into different sections/groups depending on the commands they contain. Because Word offers many options, they don’t all fit on the Ribbon.

 Command Buttons in each group carry out a command or display a menu of commands.

 Some groups have a small diagonal arrow in the bottom left corner – a dialog box launcher. Clicking it reveals more options related to that group.

 The active tab is highlighted, and the commands on that tab display immediately below the tabs.

 The tabs are sensitive to the context in which you are working.

 To illustrate this, suppose you had inserted an image into your document. On selecting the image, the Picture Tools tab appears where previously it was hidden. Clicking away from the picture hides this tab again.

 The Home tab contains all the things you use most often, such as commands in the font group for changing text size, color and so on.

 Clipboard  Font  Paragraph  Styles  Editing

 The Insert tab brings together all insert function in one area. It includes the ability to create graphics and add tables. It contains powerful picture functions as well as the insertion of headers and footers.

 Pages  Tables  Illustrations  Links  Header & Footer  Text  Symbols

 The page layout tabs contains all function associated with page appearance, setup, and printing. It provides features that facilitate document customizations.

 Themes  Page Set Up  Page Background  Paragraph  Arrange

 The reference tab provides function for automating references in a document, includes assistance using popular writing styles.

 Table of Contents  Footnotes  Citations & Bibliography  Captions  Index  Table of Authorities

 The mailings tab contains commands used in the process of combining data from multiple sources and providing useful information.

 Create  Start Mail Merge  Write & Insert Fields  Preview Results  Finish

 The review tab contains all reviewing tools in Word, including spelling and grammatical check. I also includes the management of comments, sharing, and protection.

 Proofing  Comments  Tracking  Changes  Compare  Protect

 The view tab contains basic and advanced view settings. Some of these options also appear below the horizontal and vertical scroll bars.

 Below the horizontal scroll bar, you can see the same commands found in the document group below the view Tab.

 To the right of the vertical scroll bar, you can see the same commands found in the show group and window group below the view Tab.
