The Show Must Go On A story about how Emily, age 10, faces her fears and makes mistakes. Nobody notices her mistakes, except for her dance teacher Miss V.

Theme Take chances and make mistakes. You will learn from them.

Main Characters Protagonist Emily is a sweet girl who is excited, yet scared about the festival for her Irish dancing coming up coming up. She is 10. No matter how much she practices, she can’t help but think, “I haven’t practiced enough.” Antagonist Miss V, Emily’s dance teacher, always tells Emily, “Practice, practice and practice. Remember, Practice Makes Perfect.”

Setting and Time The setting starts at the dance studio and ends at the dance studio. The time is the present.

Problem #1 Rising Action Emily is scared about her performance for Irish dancing at her practice. “I keep falling and messing up.”

Problem #2 The day of the performance Emily is scared about all of the things that could happen on stage. What do you think will happen to Emily? She will mess up on her routine She will do her routine perfect She won’t do her dance.

Problem #3 Emily won’t go on the stage because her nerves say that she doesn’t know the routines she is supposed to know.

Climax Emily goes on stage and makes a mistake and no one knows that she made a mistake except her Irish dance teacher and Irish dance friends. Then she remembers the rest of her dancing.

Falling Action The next day at the dance studio, Emily's Irish dance teacher said that Emily was brave to go on stage and make a mistake.

Resolution In the end Emily controls her nerves by going on the stage.
