Presentation transcript:

By: Nick Hinchcliffe

 In 1969, from August there would be a festival named “three days of music and peace”.  The purpose of Woodstock was to promote the Civil Rights and to protest against The Vietnam War  Promoters of the Woodstock festival paid Max Yusgar $50,000 to use his 60 acres of farmland.

 During the weekend of the Woodstock Festival, there were two major rainstorms causing nothing but mud and filth everywhere.  During this festival there were three deaths, three births, and countless drug overdoses.  At the festival there were numerous arrests for the selling or of possessing drugs.  Food, medicine, police force, and shelter all grew scarce as the protest continued.

 Woodstock was the largest group of young people ever to be gathered.  Due to the limited parking, this led up to twenty miles long of bumper to bumper traffic.  The road to Woodstock started in Monterey, California, where there were other festivals with the famous rock legends who were attending Woodstock.

 Due to the uncontrollable and non-stop rain it created a mudslide and shifted the stage six inches.  Acres of land that had been rented for parking remained empty, as cars, vans, delivery trucks, and an estimated one million kids clogged several miles of the New York State Thruway.

 Over one million tickets were sold before the festival could even start.  Some of the most famous rock legends and groups that made an appearance were Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Simon & Garfunkel, and many more.  Rock and Roll music at Woodstock gathered black and white people, which helped stop the segregation around the U.S.

 Before the festival the Rolling Stones and Grateful Dead hired some of the Hell’s Angels to perform security for the show  Paid them in $500 worth of Beer  Due to the large amount of drugs that were consumed by some individuals doctors and nurses would have “freak out tents” provided to try and calm down people who were on hallucinogenic drugs.
