Lab Equipment Thanks to for the pictures!

PictureEquipment Name Use GogglesUsed to protect eyes during experiments Divide your paper into THREE columns. Cut out the 33 lab equipment pictures. Place each one down in the “Picture” column and then write the name in the next column. If you know the use, write that as well. DO NOT GLUE anything down too securely yet (Or just use a pencil!) We will go through all of the equipment as a class to ensure that everything is named correctly

Beaker – used for conducting experiments Flask – used for conducting experiments. Good for swirling or stoppering Graduated Cylinder - Used for measuring liquids Funnel – Used for filtering or filling containers with small openings

Buret – used for adding an unknown amount of liquid. Good for titrations Pipet – used for adding small amounts of liquid Dropper - used for adding drops of liquid Thermometer – used for taking temperatures

Ring Stand - used for raising items off the table Utility Clamp – used for clamping items to the ring stand Iron Ring – used to hold items on the ring stand Pipestem Triangle – used to balance items on the ring stand Wire Gauze - used to hold items on the ring. Specifically items being heated.

Bunsen Burner – used to heat things with a flame Evaporating Dish – Used to evaporate liquids over the bunsen burner Crucible and cover – Used to heat small amounts Tongs – used for holding hot objects Test Tube Holder – used to hold test tubes

Test tube – used for conducting experiments on a small scale Test Tube Rack - used to hold test tubes upright Mortar and Pestle – used to crush substances Watch glass – a slightly rounded piece of glass used to hold items that need to be observed Well Plate- used for conducting micro scale experiments

Forceps – used for picking up small objects Scoopula – used for scooping up small amounts Spatula – used to pick up even smaller amounts Wire Brush – used to clean, good for test tubes Corks – used to seal flasks Rubber Stoppers – used to seal flasks, some have holes in them

Distilled Water Bottle – contains water that does not have ions, so it is PURE H 2 O Gas bottle – used to hold gasses Safety Goggles – used to protect eyes
