Step 5: Preliminary Activities: EMS Setup -Get an up to date Organizational Chart -Assess your current status: QuestionnaireQuestionnaire -List your Processes – “What we do here” -Projected Personnel Involvement: -Designate EMS Coordinator for your facility -List personnel with environmental responsibilities. -Identify possible EMS team members -List “Process Holders” (Managers, Department Heads, etc. -List existing resources (Web, Intranet, spill response, etc.) -Budget: Identify funding available.

Step 6: Brief Staff on what to expect -Meet with Department/Division Heads to explain what EMS entails -Describe Roles: SECO, EMS Coordinator, Facility Manager, etc. -Provide Forms to appropriate staff (Process Holders), who will Identify the Processes performed at your facility. -You will not be doing this on your own. You will have help! -Outcomes: Training Opportunities, Intranet Website, Improved Work Instructions, Procedures, and Operational Controls. -Benefits: Precise work instructions Improved waste disposal Environmentally friendly activities become institutionalized
