What is Readers Theater? Used as an after reading activity, Readers Theater offers an engaging opportunity as a cooperative or shared reading of a piece of literature. Why use Readers Theatre? Reader's theater is often defined by what it is not -- no memorizing, no props, no costumes, no sets; readers’ theatre is a performance script that the students will act out or read. Readers’ theatre allows the student to interpret the text, put their own voices, expression and essentially become the character that they are portraying.
