PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE My knowledge of Windows Movie Maker was not vast. Before using this software, I did know that it was used in order to make movies. I also knew how to incorporate transitions, import both picture and music files, and how to create different effects in each frame. I most definitely knew nothing about the different importing formats that are used in Windows Movie Maker.

IMPORTING FORMATS Video Files.asf: Advanced Systems Format is Microsoft's proprietary digital audio/digital video container format, especially meant for streaming media. ASF is part of the Windows Media framework. Movie Files.mpeg 1: Standard for video and audio compression. Audio Files.wav: Waveform audio format that can hold compressed audio. Professional users or audio experts use.wav for maximum audio quality. Still Images.jpeg: Common method of compression for photographic images..jpeg is used for storing and displaying images on the World Wide Web. *I never thought that there were as many importing formats that could be used. Of course I had heard of.jpeg, but the other formats were foreign to me. Now I know a little computer jargon and won’t feel so left out when my computer savvy friends are around!

NEW CONTENT REACTION Through the completion of this project, a learned a vast amount of information. It is amazing to me how software such a Windows Movie Maker can be integrated into the classroom. Never would I have imagined being able to complete a story with pictures, sounds, and narration using such software. It makes you use your imagination instead of sticking with mediocre teaching styles. I thought that it would be a mind boggling experience, but Microsoft makes the use of this software an ease. My father is not very good with computers, but I’m quite sure that I could teach him how to use this program with little to no frustration. It’s just nice to know the ins and outs of various programs, such as the proper equipment to use when using Windows Movie Maker.

APPLICATION TO MY CAREER Being an English major, Windows Movie Maker allows me a unique style of retelling stories. Not only are students learning, but they are being engaged with the use of narration, sounds, and illustrations that are computer based. It is an easier and more fun way to make students more willing to read and comprehend the information at hand. Not to mention it is facilitating the different learning styles found in classrooms today.

IMPORTANCE Using Window’s Media Player to tell a story will be a new form of storytelling. Not only will it provide educational insight into the digestive tract and its function, but it is also a fun, interesting, and interactive method of telling a story to young students. Through the use of animation, narration, and music, the use of different learning styles will be facilitated in an effort to make the learning process easier for all students.

FINAL QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS Will the use of Windows Movie Maker make students more interested in learning about subjects such as the Digestive Tract? Will it make the reading scores of students increase? Does the use of Windows Movie Maker to tell stories really facilitate all the learning styles found in today’s classrooms?
