5 targets for the EU 2020 Education- 40% of 30-34–year-olds third level education - early school leaving below 10% - underperformance below15% (e.g. nearly 20% of 15 year olds lack sufficient skills in reading) - reduce adults with a low level of education (73 million) - increase participation in lifelong learning (at present 8,9% only) Employment 75% of the year-olds to be employed R&D 3% of the EU's GDP to be invested in R&D Climate change and energy sustainability20% (or even 30%, if the conditions are right) greenhouse gas emissions lower than % of energy from renewables20% increase in energy efficiency Fighting poverty and social exclusionat least 20 million fewer people in or at risk of poverty and social exclusion
