Temperature Taking

Why do we need to take our temperature? To find out if we have a fever Fever is one of the earliest signs of common flu We can take action to prevent spread of the flu

I’m Tim. I’m an Oral Digital Thermometer. You can use me to take your temperature.

Let me show you how I can take your temperature.

First, switch me on.

Read the display. When it shows L 0 C, with 0 C flashing, then I am ready. L0CL0C

Put me under your tongue…Keep still – do not run or walk around.

Listen for my beep. Take me out. Read your temperature.

If your temperature is 37.9°C or higher, you have a fever. You must tell your teacher immediately.

After you have taken your temperature, write it down in your temperature log book.

Remember to… Check that the battery is working Take care of your thermometer

To keep me clean, wash the tip with soap…

… and water after use.

Dry me with a piece of tissue paper. Remember to throw the tissue paper away.

Put me back into my container.

Treat me gently. I break easily.
