KRS (3) The policy adopted by the local board to implement school-based decision making shall also address the following: (c) School improvement plans, including the form and function of strategic planning and its relationship to district planning, as well as the school safety plan and requests for funding from the Center for School Safety under KRS ;

KRS (2) (j)...After completing the review of data, each school council, with the involvement of parents, faculty, and staff, shall develop and adopt a plan to ensure that each student makes progress toward meeting the goals set forth in KRS and (1)(b) by April 1 of each year and submit the plan to the superintendent and local board of education for review as described in KRS

Legal Requirements the following items should be posted to the district website: District Assurances (by June 30 th each year) District improvement plan, after review by the local board at least annually on a cycle adopted by the local board The district ’ s planning policy, including planning cycle (Posted by June 30, 2006 and updated as needed) Final budgets for each categorical grant developed in MUNIS (posted by grant and by location by September 30 of each year)

District Assurances Requirement changes to a posting of the assurances certification to the district website. Requirement of posting by June 30 th of each year is still in effect.

District Assurances Declaration of Compliance As Superintendent of the ______________________school district, I ________________________declare that all the schools in our district (including private schools receiving funding from our district) are in compliance with all of the assurances listed below. These assurances were approved at a regular meeting of the _____________________Board of Education on ____________________________. The approval is contained in the Board minutes that are available for review at the district ’ s central office. All pertinent information related to these assurances is available for review at the district ’ s central office. ”

CDIP Plan that shows efforts that will be made to improve student achievement Only include information about initiatives to improve student achievement, don’t include maintenance of effort Only include funding related to initiatives in plan, not all categorical funding

The District Planning Policy Needs to be reviewed and updated to contain a section related to the Annual Planning Cycle. Districts will decide their own planning cycle. Examples: November 1-October 31 (Allows for new CATS data to be analyzed) October 1-September 30 (Coincides with end of Federal Year) January 1-December 31 (Calendar Year)

Comprehensive Needs Assessment What does the data tell us our needs are?

Prioritize Needs Which of these identified needs are of greatest concern (2-3 needs)?

Analysis of Causes and Contributing Factors for needs What factors caused these needs of greatest concern to occur?

Set measurable goals What is our goal in addressing each of these needs and when will we reach these goals?

Develop steps to achieve goals What steps will we take to reach our goals and who will oversee each step?

Allocate resources What resources will we need to reach our goal?

Monitor the implementation of the plan (Set benchmarks) What methods will we use to ensure each step is completed?

Evaluate the plan’s effect on student achievement How will we measure the effectiveness of our actions?
