Why SMART Goals? The SMART system should be used successfully to help you achieve your goal. A SMART goal needs to satisfy the following components. It should be . . .

What Are SMART GOALS? Measurable Achievable Realistic Time-bound Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time-bound

Specific - Setting "exact" goals Who? Who is involved? What? What do I want to accomplish? Where? Identify a location. When? Establish a time frame. Which? Identify requirements and constraints. Why? Specific reasons, purpose or benefits of accomplishing the goal.

Measurable How much? How many? How will I know when it is accomplished?

Achievable Do you have enough time to pursue your goal? Do you have the necessary skills, strengths, and resources?

Realistic Within the availability of resources, time and knowledge.

Time-bound Enough time to achieve the goal Not too much time, which can affect Goal performance
