Stages of a Multimedia Project  Planning and costing- infrastructure, time, skills etc.  Designing and producing- perform each of the planned tasks to create a finished product  Testing- meeting objectives, platform compliance etc.  Delivering- packaging and delivery to the end user

Infrastructure requirement  Hardware- system, memory, monitor, audio/ video capturing devices, peripherals  Software- operating system, authoring tools, graphic designs, animation etc.

Multimedia Team  Project manager- coordinates the entire project  Multimedia designer- information designer, graphic designer, illustrator, animator etc  Writer- create character, action, point of view, narration, screen text, interactivity etc.  Video specialist- skilled in all phases of production from concept to final edit  Audio specialist- background music, voice over, sound effects  Multimedia programmer - integrating all multimedia elements into a seamless whole using authoring tools or programming languages

Hardware peripherals  Memory- CD-ROM players and writers, DVD, Video discs  Input devices- keyboards, mouse, trackballs, touch screens, magnetic card encoders and readers, graphic tablets, scanners, OCR devices, infrared remotes, voice recognition systems, digital cameras  Output hardware- amplifiers and speakers, monitors, video devices, projectors  Communication devices- modems, networks

Card or page based tools  Element organized as pages of a book or a stack of cards. Authoring system helps in linking these pages or cards into organized sequence. Media objects contained are buttons, text fields, graphic objects, backgrounds and pages and cards. Examples: HyperCard, SuperCard, ToolBook, Oracle Media Objects, Visual Basic

Icon-based, event-driven tools  Multimedia elements and interaction elements are organized as objects in a structural framework or process. Provides visual programming approach.
