Teenagers today are hooked on social networks. Is it always safe to share your ideas and personal information with other users? Essays giving opinions on a certain problem. (two essays – two different viewpoints)

PARAGRAPH 1 – you introduce the topic and give your opinion Opinion 1Opinion 2 There are a lot of activities trending with today’s youth. One of them is social networking which has opened up a new way to communicate. In my opinion, social networks help find people with similar interests and engage them in discussions on certain topics. Nowadays, more and more teenagers are getting addicted to social networks. I think social networking is a tool in making new friends as well as enemies.

How to organize the paragraphs of the main body – paragraph 2 Opinion 1 reason/example (topic sentence) To start with, when you are on a website like Facebook, you can communicate with your friends anytime. For example, you can chat online, comment on your friend’s “wall”. You keep in touch or just say “hi” even to those who live far away. In addition, you can ask questions and get answers very quickly. Opinion 2 reason/example (topic sentence) To start with, there are dangers and risks that some hackers or criminals can get access to some personal information like profile and photos. For example, E.Kaspersky’s son ignored some security rules when he uploaded some information and photos, and therefore, he was kidnapped.

How to organize the paragraphs of the main body – paragraph 3 Opinion 1 reason/example (topic sentence) Secondly, using social networks teenagers can get some useful skill for their future career. For instance, nowadays corporate social networking is growing in popularity. People in different companies can use it to get references and build a reputation. It’s a great way to get yourself known in the field of a particular industry. Opinion 2 reason/example (topic sentence) Secondly, some people don’t tell the truth on the websites. We don’t see who we are talking with. As a result, in the virtual world, individuals can pretend to be someone else. Kids are exposed to harassments and inappropriate contacts. What is more, there are many crazy people who enjoy “trolling” kids and make them victims of cyber bullying.

The opposing viewpoint which is different from the author’s viewpoint – paragraph 4 Opinion 1 somebody else’s opposing viewpoint (topic sentence) On the other hand, there are those who believe that social networks have had a negative effect on today’s teenagers. They say that teens become distracted and waste time instead of concentrating on schoolwork. Moreover, it is dangerous to share your personal information because there are criminals like kidnappers who can see your profile and photos. There are also crazy people who “troll” others. As a result, you are under risk of being hurt. Opinion 2 somebody else’s opposing viewpoint (topic sentence) Alternatively, there is a viewpoint that social networks are great for communicating with other people. Through such sites, individuals make new friends or business connections. These connections can also help find a new job and get support from the like-minded people. Teenagers can get useful skills for their future career, for example, how to use corporate social networks.

Conclusion in which the author restates the opinion which was in the introduction– paragraph 5 Opinion 1 Rephrased author’s viewpoint (topic sentence) In conclusion, I believe that the advantages of social networking are real. A user of social networks contacts people, becomes more tolerant of other people’s opinions and gets support from the like- minded individuals. In my view, we should enjoy the opportunity to communicate with people we know but be careful about the risks. Opinion 2 Rephrased author’s viewpoint (topic sentence) To sum up, it is obvious that social networking can be harmful. In my opinion, teenagers should take responsibility for their own safety and never join something just because it is trendy or all friends are doing it.
