There is no average learner If you design learning for the average learner, you design for no one. 5

Universal Design for Learning benefits all kids, not just those with learning and attention issues. 6

What am I teaching? Who am I teaching? How will I teach it? How will I know if the students understand? 7

The goal of UDL is to present information so that all learners can access the information, and to give learners different ways to demonstrate their knowledge. UDL is based on three main principles: 8
