GENERAL FACTS  the Japanese name for Japan is Nihon or Nippon which means sun origin  Japan is made up of 6,852 islands  Japan hosted the 1964 Summer Olympic games in Tokyo and will again in They also hosted the 1972 and 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Sapporo and Nagano.

LOCATION IN ASIA  Japan is close to South Korea, China, North Korea but far away from Mexico, Brazil

LANGUAGE  Mum / Oksana Stephanie/Sutefant  Dad/Otosan  Children / kodomo-tachi  School/Gakko  Lachlan/ Rakuran  Amy/Emit

TOURIST  Tourist go to Tokyo to Mount Himeji, Mount Fuji.

TRADITIONAL CLOTHS/FOODS  Food-Sushi, Noodles, Raw fish, kebab, cooked fish.  Clothes: A traditional dress is the Kimono. It means “something to wear”. Today they are only worn for special occasions.

CELEBRATIONS  Japanese New Year is the most important holiday in Japan.  1 st of January to 3 rd of January.  The family comes together to celebrate.  Homes are decorated.  Noodles are served which represent a long life.  People watch the sunrise, then the year will be full of joy and free of anger.
