SJV SPORTS Presentation by Mr. Cowan and Ms. Chavez

* Demonstrate Christian values when spectating. * Support the Athletic Department in its endeavors to support the athlete. * Provide transportation to and from game. * Coaches are not permitted to drive athletes. * Be on time. * Volunteer * Be sure your child is not over-committed. (Academics come first)

* Demonstrates Christian values in his/her conduct on and off the playing field. * Athletes should try their best, work hard at practices, and respect all coaches. * Academics come first at SJV * Be on time to all practice and games. * Proper practice and game attire. * Practice – athletic shoes and shorts/sweats. * Game – Game day uniforms and other required attire based on sport.

* If an issue or grievance occurs, approach the individual coach first within one or two days. * In the 8 th grade encourage the athletes to take responsibility and advocate for themselves. * If the issues is not addressed, or is unable to be resolved, bring it to the attention of the Athletic Directors right away. * If necessary, we will bring the issue to the attention of Sister Michele Ann and arrange a meeting to resolve the issue. * Coach  Athletic Directors  Sister Michele Ann

* Online registration will be implemented by next year. * Early registration * Enrollment in June for saves money. Cost per season is $50. * Early registration helps get the Fall Season started, and helps organization the search for coaches. * Open Enrollment Periods * Enrollment will open Aug. 1 st, and close the first Friday of the new school year. * August enrollment cost $75 per season. * Enrollment for individual season will open for teams only needing roster spots. * Late Registration * Once the online registration window is closed, that is it. There is no paper form to turn in late.

* Tournaments are not league events and not sponsored by the school. * Tournament fees are split evenly by the athletes attending * Note different regulations and play times. * Plan ahead, don’t double book. (Crab feed)

* Attendance should be viewed as mandatory to honor the commitment to the team. * Excused absences must be cleared with coaches by a note from a parent. * No athlete may participate in practice unless he/she stays the entire time. * If absent from school = may not participate in practice or games on that day.

* Mandatory 5 hours of service to the athletic program. * Hours count towards family yearly commitment. * Must record hours online on SJV website. * Various opportunities provided each game: * “Team parent” * Set up a snack list * Keep score at games, training provided. * Assist with gym and/or field preparation.

* ALL volunteers during games or practices must: * Complete Fingerprinting clearances * Complete Shield the Vulnerable course * Wait for notice by AD to volunteer

* JP Impressions took pictures last spring as a trial. * Individual and team pictures available for purchase. * Team Pictures used for the SJV Yearbook. * SJV parents photographers can earn service hours for taking pictures at games. * Send picture to * Raymond Garcia and Anabella Estrada are the contact people for logging service hours.
