Junior Comet League 2014-2015 Informational Meeting Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Due to our success the past few years, we will again be playing in the SWBL Tournament League: SWBL (Southern Wisconsin Basketball League) www.swblonline.com Coaches will be in control of their own schedules and will be registering for the tournaments they wish to play in. Parents can access this website at any time to see team rosters, schedules, tournament locations and directions, team scores and standings. There is a spectator cost of $5.00 per adult and generally $2.00 per student to get in the door of the SWBL tournaments. This is standard and mandatory for any school hosting an SWBL tournament.

What does this season look like? The JCL will cover the costs for each team to play in 4 tournaments. Each tournament guarantees 3 games…..so, in 4 Saturdays your child gets 12 games of basketball. After those 4 tournaments, it is left up to the coach to determine how many more tournaments their team will play. Costs for additional tournaments will be divided up between the players. The JCL is working with the SWBL to try and host approximately 14 home tournaments.

Uniforms Last year, the JCL made a decision to move towards new Uniforms. THE PLAN: For 4 th grade players and all new players, each parent will be purchasing their child’s uniform….this is included as part of the registration fee. Players will keep their uniforms to be used in future years….. So, paying attention to sizing is important. The JCL recommends that uniforms not be worn outside of the season so that they remain in good condition for the following year.

League Fee Costs Registration Fee:$100 per child $ 40 for each additional child Includes: Uniform (……yours to keep) (12) Games of Basketball Because we will be hosting tournaments, it is mandatory for each family to put in their time to work at these tournaments. You will be compensated for your time. Please plan on supporting your player and this program. It will not be a success without your help.

Registration Fee Breakdown You are paying $100 for each player. ($40 for additional) An adult family member (high school students excluded) must work 8 hours for their player. (2 hours extra for each additional child). For each hour worked, you will be paid back, at the end of the season, $10.00 per hour. (8) Hours X $10.00 per hour worked = $80.00 (The amount to get paid back at end of season for working your total hours) The cost to you at the end of the season would only be $20. ……For those of you needing to order new uniforms, you can see the JCL is investing in the majority of your uniform.

How can I help out? Parents will be required to work if you choose to have your child play: Work concessions Referee (if licensed) Take money at the door Setup before Tournament Scoreboard/Scorebook Cleanup after tournament Any combination of these will work. This doesn’t have to be just at your son/daughter’s tournament. You can also help out for other tournaments if you prefer.

Additional Information Coaches will be meeting to discuss gym times and work on schedules for their tournaments. Coaches will be contacting families and players.
