Business Practices for the Future Learning Collaborative Fee-for-Service, Cohort II This Learning Collaborative was developed for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) by the University of Wisconsin through JBS International, Inc., under contract numbers HHSS I/HHSS T, with SAMHSA, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “The contents of this presentation do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of SAMHSA, or DHHS.” Kim Plavsic served as the Government Project Officer.

RESULTS SINCE IMPLEMENTING CHANGES, THERE HAS BEEN A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN REVENUE. IN MAY THERE WAS ONE CHARGE BACK OF $23.00, JUNE NONE, JULY ONE OF $23.00, AUGUST NONE. MORE IMPORTANTLY, LESS EXTRA WORK FOR ME!

NEXT STEPS APPLY THIS CHANGE PROCESS TO OTHER AREAS OF THE AGENCY. FOR INSTANCE, THERE HAS BEEN A DECREASE IN CLIENTS COMING TO OUR AGENCY FOR RYAN WHITE SERVICES. FOLLOWING THE NIATX CHANGE PROCESS WILL IMPROVE SERVICE AND REVENUE FOR THIS FUNDING STREAM.

IMPACT There is obvious buy in by staff and myself. Improved communication between staff; counselors, billing, administration.
