Our Program I took over 8 years ago, we had a varsity, and a 10 th grade team and barely a JV team Our tradition had changed from being a contender every year, to just playing to have fun (which didn’t include a lot of winning) We were a program in transition, still suffering from the MG/Osseo Split I took over 8 years ago, we had a varsity, and a 10 th grade team and barely a JV team Our tradition had changed from being a contender every year, to just playing to have fun (which didn’t include a lot of winning) We were a program in transition, still suffering from the MG/Osseo Split

Our Program (continued) Mission Osseo Softball is just a small piece in the big puzzle of Osseo Athletics. We view our players as students, athletes and valuable members of our community. Our teams will strive to have athletes that come from multiple backgrounds and cultures, participate in multiple sports/activities and have strong academic interests. We exist to provide an opportunity for girls to develop an appreciation and enthusiasm for the game of fastpitch softball, a sport that is a unique blend of athleticism and team plus individual accountability. We will aim to be competitive at all levels and learn to play the game the way it was meant to be played: with respect, intensity, integrity and sportsmanship. Vision We will build successful teams by focusing on: Increasing the number of athletes out for softball, Developing solid fundamentals, and Teaching the strategies of the game. Philosophy We will work harder than any other team in the state. Each player is important to the success of the team. We will continually work to make each player the best they can be; the end result will be the success as a team. Players will be put on teams where they can make the biggest impact, ensuring the success of the team and individual. Defense wins championships. The foundation of our program will be defense. H.A.D. Fun…Hustle, Aggressiveness, Desire and Fundamentals. The game of fastpitch is continuously changing. We will always be looking to push the boundary; we will strive to be one-step ahead. Bunting has become an important part of the game. We will emphasize bunting in all situations. We will teach bunting mechanics and fundamentals at all levels. Having fun means working hard at practice and being consistently competitive in games and achieving our goals. Winning will always be our goal. No individual, coach or player, is more important than the team. Mission Osseo Softball is just a small piece in the big puzzle of Osseo Athletics. Our Program (continued) Since then: –We have re-established our overall numbers –We have gotten more players with more experience –We started to play fastpitch the way it was meant to be played –We have had success in the lower levels and it finally trickled up Since then: –We have re-established our overall numbers –We have gotten more players with more experience –We started to play fastpitch the way it was meant to be played –We have had success in the lower levels and it finally trickled up

The Rules For the most part, the players have created their own rules. We have them typed out and each player will be signing them with their teams. However, there are two big rules that you need to know. For the most part, the players have created their own rules. We have them typed out and each player will be signing them with their teams. Sportsmanship Emphasis in the High School league for the past 5 years Our scores have been phenomenal and we strive to continue that tradition Players will not talk to an umpire (unless that umpire first talks to them and then it is with the utmost respect) We will only cheer for our team and not cheers against the other We will be each other’s biggest fan Fans encouraged to do the same.
