8 Edina Lacrosse Program Philosophy
We are going to provide each athlete who chooses to participate the opportunity to improve basic lacrosse skills as well as foster the elements of competition, dedication, sportsmanship and teamwork. Competition involves both winning and losing. We define a successful team as one in which the athletes improve continually through the season- day to day, week to week, and contest to contest. We hope to teach our athletes to be humble winners and gracious losers. Dedication involves attending practices on time, performing in the classroom, agreeing to abide by the MSHSL rules regarding competition, chemical use, and other team matters. Sportsmanship is exemplified in the individual who recognizes the talents of others, both teammates and opponents and applauds the effort of both. Teamwork includes working with others, understanding that each person is a part of the team and has special job to do. It also involves recognizing our skills, our limitations and contributing as best as we can. It is hoped that within these guidelines each participant will be given ample opportunity to strengthen life long characteristics, while having a memorable experience as a member of the Edina Girls Lacrosse Program.
