Job roles in theatres Technical Director— responsible for directing all crews for set construction, lights, costumes, sounds, props, make up, etc. Settles disputes between designers Assistant Stage Manager— in charge of the grips/stage crew and maintaining order backstage Director- has the artistic vision of the show; provides actors with blocking Producer- provides the funding for the production Stage Manager- calls the cues

Scenic designer—creates the plans for the set Lighting designer—in charge of placement, focus, color of all lights Costume designer—in charge of the style, color, texture, fabric of all clothing worn by actors Sound designer—in charge of microphones and all special effect sounds as well as preshow, intermission and curtain call music Artistic director—the person who hires the director(s), designers and cast

Playwright—writes the script Company manager—in charge of the comfort and happiness of the casts and crews—provides transportation, food, salaries Grips/stage crew—moving the scenery during the run of the production Lighting crew—run the electrical equipment during show, may help set up instruments during technical rehearsals Sound crew—run the microphones and any special effects during the production

Costume/Make-up crew—in charge of making sure the clothing and make up are applied correctly and on time. Properties manager—in charge of obtaining or creating all of the hand-held items used in a production Properties crew—in charge of the placement and movement of handheld items during the run of the production. Carpenters—build the set Master carpenter—in charge of executing the scenic designer’s plans

Actors—bringing the characters to life on the stage Publicity director—in charge of advertising for the production House manager—responsible for the comfort and happiness of the audience Box office manager—in charge of ticket sales Ushers—in charge of seating the audience before a production, collecting tickets and distributing programs.
