Color Wheel

Monochromatic Using different tints and shades of the same color Dark monochromatic – looks taller and thinner

Analogous Colors next to each other on the color wheel Includes cool colors and warm colors

Cool Colors Blues, greens, violet Restful, relaxing, soothing

Warm Colors Excitement, bright, cheerful

Complementary Opposites on the color wheel Makes colors look brighter

Split-Complimentary One color + the two next to it’s opposite

Triadic 3 colors equidistant on wheel blue, red, yellow (primaries) purple, orange, green (secondary)

Accented Neutral White, black, gray, brown with a bright color

Curved Looks more feminine

Zig-Zag Creates the most design interest

Vertical Makes you appear taller and thinner

Horizontal Makes a person appear shorter and wider
