Fulbright Program Established in 1946 by former U.S. Congress, J. William Fulbright To increase mutual understanding between the people of the U.S and people of other countries Provides opportunities for foreign nationals to study, teach, and pursue research in the U.S. Every year the U.S. Embassy sends from 8 to 10 Cambodian students to pursue graduate study in the U.S.

Eligible Applicants Applicants from Government, Non-Governmental Organization and Private sectors are eligible for this program. Fields of Study All fields of study are acceptable except Medicine but students from Medical school can apply for Public Health.

Main Requirements Strong academic background Have completed a Bachelor or Master’s degree Proficient in English (minimum TOEFL score 570, 88 in internet based or 7.0 on IELTS) Demonstrate ability to adapt readily to a foreign environment; and Be in good health and able to undergo a rigorous study program.

How to apply? through online application at: international/international/, or - Applicants must create ID and password and keep it in a safe place. - Your Address is your User ID - You may access your application any time to edit as long as you have not submitted it. once it’s submitted you can no longer make any change.

Timeline  February - June, 2011: Announcement  March 26, 2011: First ITP date  April 23, 2011: Second ITP date  June 10, 2011: Deadline of the application with all supporting documents to the U.S. Embassy  Start completing the application as soon as possible.  Don’t wait for the result of the ITP because you need to spend many weeks to complete and review your application.

Global UGRAD Program One-semester to one academic-year scholarship For outstanding undergraduates for non-degree program at accredited U.S. institutions. Available in all Fields of Study, Except Medicine, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacology and Animal Care.

Global UGRAD Program (cont.) Eligible Applicants must: be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program have at least one semester to complete in their home institutions upon completion be highly motivated non-elite or less privileged undergraduate students

Global UGRAD Program(cont.) Eligible Applicants must: have good knowledge in English, minimum TOEFL score of 500 or 173 on computer based, 61 on internet based test (iBT) have no previous study experience in the U.S. be 24 years or younger at the time of application

Global UGRAD Program(cont.) Timeline:  October 18, 2010: Announcement  December 3, 2010: Application Deadline  December 13, 2010: Interview for final selection  March 2010: Notify of the award to successful candidates

Undergraduate Intensive English Language Program (UIELP) Eight-week intensive English courses at college and universities in the U.S. For undergraduate students in sciences and technical fields from non-elite students

Undergraduate Intensive English Language Program (cont.) Eligible Applicants: Have a sustained high level academic achievement be from historical underserved communities Be proficient in English (TOEFL scores )

Undergraduate Intensive English Language Program (cont.) Eligible Applicants: Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential in their university and community activities Have had little or no prior study or travel experience in the U.S. or elsewhere outside of Cambodia Be 24 years or younger at the time of application

The Study of the United States Institute for Student Leaders (SUSI) A five-week intensive academic program designed to provide groups of undergraduate student leaders with a deeper understanding of the U.S and leadership skills. Different theme from one year to another.

SUSI (cont.) Eligible Applicants must: have a sustained high level academic achievement be proficient in English (TOEFL scores 500) have no previous study or travel experience in the U.S or elsewhere outside of their home country be 25 years or younger at the time of application demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential in their university and community activities

SUSI (cont.) Timeline: November : Announcement December 13, 2010: Application deadline December 23, 2010: Interview Late June to early August: Courses at a U.S. college or university

Last week of July 2011: Shortlist of the selected applicants for final interview Late August 2011: Interview for final selection October 1, 2011: Deadline to submit finalist to the Institute of International Education (IIE) October 2011 – April 2012: IIE reviews missing documents and submit to different universities in the U.S. May – July 2012: Results of the placements and departure to the U.S.
